vintage Deco silver and Montana moss agate Ring
Housing one of the most beautiful pieces of agate I have seen, this period Art Deco sterling silver ring combines the geometric architecturality of the 1930s with stylized fleur-de-lis motifs. And even though I love the silver-work, it is the stone, Montana agate I believe, that I cannot get over. Its clear body has a satiny golden tinge to it, accentuated by a trail of little dots of brown, black and dark rust color. The ring is signed and, I suspect, probably an American piece but the hallmark is in a very difficult place to get a good photo of so I will leave that bit of research to its next caretaker...
Size / Weight: sz 7.5 US (resizable by your jeweler); face is 9/16" N-S by just under 1/2" E-W; 1/4" rise; 3.0 grams
Hallmarks / Date: signed for maker as shown as well as "STERLING"; 1920s-30s
Condition: very good vintage with a stunning, magical stone, nice silver-work, good patina and no offensive damage or repairs noted except for a tiny little chip off the agate on one corner - not visible to the naked eye and not affecting the ring's beauty at all
