Ornate Gerardo Lopez Mexican silver repousse Ring
Ornate and beautifully made, with a fantastic patina that makes the juxtaposition between the darkened recesses of the design and the glowing raised surfaces even more dramatic, this ornate and difficult-to-find Mexican silver ring is signed by Gerardo Lopez. I consider Lopez one of Taxco’s foremost maestros in the art of repoussage and the ring at hand is, I believe, a telling example. I will let the photos continue the story…
Size / Weight: sz 4.75 US (easily re-sizable by a jeweler); face is just above 1″ N-S and 7/8″ E-W; 8.3 grams
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s name as well as “STERLING TAXCO” and Eagle 26 assay mark; 1950s-60s
Condition: excellent vintage with fantastic patina, a rare-to-find design and no damage or repairs noted
