Los Castillo Mexican silver Clamper Bracelet ~ fish skeleton
An early design by the Los Castillo taller (could it have been designed by their cousin, Salvador Teran, when he was still working for them?), the “fish skeleton” is considered a classic and has seen many emulations and reproductions over the years. The hinged bracelet at hand, wrought in thick silver sheet with copper bead accents, is a modernist treasure that was made for small wrists. Ideal for all of us who love vintage Mexican clampers but can never enjoy them because they are usually too big…
Size/Weight: 5 3/4″ inner circumference; width between 1 7/8″ (at the front) and 3/8″ (at its narrowest, on the side); 62.5 grams
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s signature as shown alongside Eagle 15 assay mark and des. no 114; 1950s-60s
Condition: excellent vintage with great patina, having a strong, snappy hinge, with good heft and in a very slick, mod design
Inv# 0706
