Mexican silver Etruscan blowfish Pendant Necklace
Fun, chubby and full of excitement, this vintage Mexican silver blowfish pendant is wrought in the Etruscan style and matches the dangle earrings of the same design also available on the site. I had a vague memory of having the pendant in my unlisted inventory and when I acquired the earrings - the form is very rare to come upon in this motif - I went digging. And there it was, waiting patiently all these years for its moment on the stage! It even has the same green rhinestone eyes adorning the fish on the earrings. Matched with a vintage Italian sterling twist-rope chain that is of a newer vintage yet - at least in my opinion - quite appropriate for it…
PS: You can see the trio in one of the photos - the earrings are available separately on the site
Size / Weight: pendant is 1 1/8” long (without the bail) by 1 3/8” wide; with the bail, it adds a 1 1/4” drop to the chain; chain itself is 22 1/4” long by 1/16” thick; 21.2 grams (for the duo; 14.2 grams for the pendant and 7.0 grams for the chain)
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s initials “AME”(?) as well as “MEXICO 925” and Eagle 2 assay mark; chain is marked “ITALY” and “925”; 1950s-60s for pendant while chain is post-1980
Condition: excellent vintage, with beautiful, sparkly rhinestones, all the florets in place and no damage or repairs noted
