Mexican silver and blue art glass foliate Ring
A little bit of the 1940s love for naturalism combined with the beginning of 1950s modernism come together in this vintage Mexican silver ring. Sitting high up in a crown setting there is a gorgeously colored art glass cabochon. Young summer sky blue with veins of chartreuse and just the right hint of gold glistening here and there, the cab brings to mind Murano glass wedding cake beads. The silver-work is more recognizably Taxco though. Overlapping stylized leaves wrap around the base of the crown glowing with the warm patina of time…
Size / Weight: sz 6 US (easily resizable by your jeweler); face is 7/8” square; 5/8” rise; 7.3 grams
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s conjoined initials as shown as well as “MEXICO”, “925” and Eagle 93 assay mark; 1950s-60s
Condition: excellent vintage with nice patina, a gorgeous piece of art glass centering it, with no damage and no repairs noted
