Mexican silver and azur malachite statuette Pendant Necklace

SOLD

Though carved stone "mask" jewelry are not uncommon in the realm of vintage Mexican silver, whole body "statuettes" are as abundant and when I come up on a nice example, I am understandably thrilled. The stone here is, I believe, azur-malachite with the second component obviously preponderant yet it could be agate as well. And even though the carving is minimalist, all the details are there, crisp and easily readable to the eye, to convey exactly what the lapidary wanted to show. Paired with a Mexican sterling chain of approximately the same period, it can be your talisman for a peaceful, happy existence...

Size / Weight: pendant is just a tad above 1 1/2" tall (without the bails) by 7/16" wide; with the bails it adds a 2" drop to the chain; chain itself is 23" long; 14.9 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: partially stamped "925" on pendant bail; chain is signed with maker's initials "CMC" as well as "HECHO EN MEXICO 925" and bears Eagle 5 assay mark; 1940s

Condition: excellent vintage with the stone having a beautiful color combination, crisp carved details, with nice patina and no damage or repairs noted
