Mexican retro silver scrolls and heart Dangle Earrings

$0.00
SOLD

Fun and easy to wear, this set of Mexican sterling silver dangle earrings is signed by one of Taxco's still unidentified silversmiths - and since it is hallmarked with des. no 1, could it have been that person's first creation as an independent maestro? I am used to the specific "heart and scrolls" design to bear the signature of "Arte en Plata", the Mexico City workshop of the Jacopo Bros who, according to Bille Hougart, also commissioned and sold jewelry by other maestros from Taxco. Could the mysterious "ML" signing this pair have crafted it for "Arte en Plata"? Whichever the case (and I find all this speculation fascinating) what we have here is a playfully romantic pair of dangles - long enough to be noticed yet not excessively so as to be difficult to enjoy, perfectly finished and glowing with that warm patina of a well-lived life...

Size / Weight: 1 3/8" long by 3/4" wide; 11.4 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: maker's initials "ML" as well as "STERLING TAXCO 925" and des. no 1; 1940s-50s

Condition: excellent vintage with great patina, made of silver wire with good thickness to it, with no damage and no repairs noted
