Mexican retro Etruscan style silver Charm Bracelet
Made by the same Cuernavaca maestro as the long Etruscan barrel-bead chain necklace you see in one of the photos here, this chunky, carefully crafted Mexican silver bracelet is made up of barrel-beads encrusted with tiny florets and features a substantial, sightly oblate spherical charm. We don’t know much about “R.D.” - he is a listed silversmith active in Cuernavaca during the middle period of Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance but based on my experience I can also tell you that he excelled in the creation of Etruscan style pieces. I am always on the look out for his work and over the years have been fortunate enough to have come upon several exceptional examples…
PS: The matching chain necklace you see in one of the photos is also an “R.D.” piece and available on the site.
Size / Weight: 7 7/8” end-to-end yet due to the chunky beads it wears a little smaller, around 7 1/4” long; 1/2” wide at the chain (the diameter of the barrel beads); charm adds a drop of approx. 1 1/4” and is 1” wide at the waist; 39.0 grams
Hallmarks / Date: maker’s initials “R.D.” as well as “HECHO EN MEXICO CUERNAVACA”, “0.925” and Eagle 108 assay mark; 1950s-60s
Condition: excellent vintage with rich, warmly glowing patina, chunky and a pleasure to wear, with no damage and no repairs noted
