Mexican Deco silver and turquoise "chain mail" Necklace
Generous in length for a classic Mexican Deco choker necklace this sterling silver "chain mail" beauty is studded with turquoise cabs in hues of green and signed by one of the Mexico City maestros whose name I have come to associate with the specific design. "Mesh" jewelry of this type were popular in Mexican silver-smithing, especially in the early and middle period of the country's 20th c. Silver Renaissance and they come in all widths, with or without turquoise (to date I have not seen an example with a different stone). In my opinion, maestros TNC and FarFan, both based in the capital, have produced the highest in quality versions and I am always in search for their work. The necklace at hand, beautifully articulated, lies perfect around the neck, and religiously keeps its place. I love the color of the stones and the wonderful patina that has developed over its long life...
PS: The matching "charm" bracelet is also available and will be offered soon.
