Mexican Deco silver and stone "fleur de lis" Earrings

SOLD

Sweet-as-can-be this Mexican Deco sterling silver repousse set of earrings bears hallmarks indicating it was crafted in one of the capital’s workshops. The specific “fleur-de-lis” design, however, was also popular with Taxco maestros. I have seen it with different stones yet here the teardrop-shaped dangle houses a piece of dyed green calcite. Elegant in a classic “Spanish Colonial” way, I love the medium-sized dangles and the wonderful patina that enhances the pair’s sculpturality…

Size / Weight: 1 1/2” long by 5/8” wide; 8.0 grams (for the set)

Hallmarks / Date: maker’s conjoined initials as shown as well as “HECHO EN MEXICO D.F” (some of it partially there); tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver except for the screw-back findings which are of non-precious metal; pre-1948

Condition: excellent vintage with nice repoussage, great patina, beautiful color in the stone dangles and no damage or repairs noted
