Mexican Deco silver and amethyst triple "turbaned mask" Brooch

$0.00
SOLD

Photographed a long time ago yet for some reason still kept in the "unlisted jewelry" drawer this figural brooch is a "turbaned mask" extravaganza! For the lovers of classic Mexican Deco jewelry design it probably looks like paradise: a graduated series of three black onyx glass "masks", all wearing repousse sterling turbans, embellished with an amethyst cabochon each, held together with lengths of delicate silver chain. Wear them as a group, the way they come but I can also see the idea of potential conversions shining in the eyes of some out there. Either way, three is indeed good company...

Size / Weight: from bigger to smaller: 2" by 1 9/16", 1 1/2" by 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" by 1"; 31.0 grams (for the trio)

Hallmarks / Date: "STERLING MEXICO"; 1930s-40s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful patina, nice repoussage, three lovely amethyst cabs and very expressive black onyx glass faces; no damage and no repairs noted
