massive Los Ballesteros Mexican silver citrine Pendant Necklace

SOLD

Massive Los Ballesteros Mexican silver pendant, layered, adorned with beading and oxidation, in a convex shape that pushes the huge citrine centering it out at you – this is one of the most impressive pendants of theirs I have seen. For me it betrays a distinct Spanish Colonial influence as it based on the ornate order medals royals around the world like to bestow on select individuals to show favor and appreciation. The heavy silver-work is lightened by the cut-outs in it but matched by the huge faceted citrine that adorns it in a hefty crown setting. I have paired it with a hand-made, appropriately hefty – albeit of a newer vintage – sterling silver chain so it can be enjoyed immediately as the striking necklace that it makes for…

Size / Weight: pendant is 3″ long (without the bail) by 2 5/8″ wide; with the bail it adds a 3 1/2″ drop to the chain; chain itself is 24 1/4″ long; 80.4 grams (for the set; pendant alone is 57.2 grams)

Hallmarks / Date: taller’s logo as shown, “HECHO EN MEXICO” and “STERLING 925”; chain is not marked yet tested and guaranteed to be of sterling quality; pre-1948 for pendant while chain is newer

Condition: excellent vintage with a certain “regal” quality about it, fantastic patina and exquisite workmanship, a gorgeous stone and no damage or repairs noted
