Margot de Taxco Mexican silver bow Pin / Pendant Necklace

$0.00
SOLD

Margot de Taxco loved combination pin / pendant necklaces and she designed them so that you could take the brooch away and still link the two lengths of chain and wear them alone as an elegant choker. I suspect that many pieces were comprised of inter-changeable elements so if you had this set and a different pin/pendant out of her “hand-hammered” line, for example, you could theoretically attach to this chain and enjoy that second brooch as a necklace too. Big, bold and beautiful, the bow in our case is stylized and very geometric, rendered in black and white (oxidation and silver). And even though this is a 1950s piece, it still exhibits a heavy Deco influence combined with a distinct Arts and Crafts air that expresses itself in the hand-hammering of the silver…

Size / Weight: 15 5/8” long (worn as a “pendant necklace); brooch / pendant is 2 3/4” wide by 1 7/8” tall; when worn without the pendant, the chain necklace is 14 1/2” long; its width is 1/4”; 56.9 grams (total; brooch alone is 25.5 grams)

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed on pin/pendant with Margot’s name as shown, des. no 5417 and Eagle 16 assay mark; 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with its oxidation in great shape, with warm patina, very versatile as it gives you three pieces in one, with no damage and no repairs noted
