Los Castillo Mexican retro silver overlay Earrings
An early Los Castillo design and very much in keeping with the 1940s' love for sweeping flourishes this set of earrings, carefully hand-cut, overlaid and oxidized will add just the right amount of festive spirit to your outfit. Bold and confident, the swirls seem to twist upon themselves in excitement and then reach high up for the skies with abandonment. Got to love the Los Castillo and the myriad ways in which they still make our day...
Size / Weight: 1 3/4" tall by 3/4" wide; 12.4 grams
Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with workshop's name as shown as well as "MADE IN MEXICO STERLING" and des. no 110; pre-1948
Condition: very good vintage with strong sense of motion, perfect overlay and its oxidation in great shape as well; the patina is warm and glowing and I can see no unsightly damage or any repairs but there is a very tight line that develops across one of the upward flourishes in one earring - it is not a crack since it doesn't go through (even though there is a scratch line on the back side that more or less corresponds to it) and the silver seems to be very stable; it perplexes me and I wonder if it was just something that happened during the earring's crafting but I can't say for sure so I took it into consideration in the set's pricing
