Los Ballesteros minimalist Mexican silver Collar Necklace
The epitome of minimalism - there is nowhere further in subtraction to go from here - this modernist sterling silver collar necklace bears the signature of the Los Ballesteros workshop and was made in Taxco, Mexico in the 1960s-70s. Shaped in order to wrap itself around the neck and rest lightly right below the Adam's apple, its width is at its maximum at center front and then tapers gently toward the two ends in the back of the neck. A smaller size (though it can be adjusted slightly to fit more comfortably) it is the perfect accoutrement for that mean little black dress...
Size / Weight: 14 1/2" inner circumference (including the 2 1/4" gap; slightly adjustable but I would advise to ask your jeweler to do it because of the thick gauge of silver used); width between 7/16" at center front and 1/8" at either end; 36.0 grams (on a postal scale)
Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with workshop's logo as shown as well as "HECHO EN MEXICO", "STERLING 925" and Eagle 42 assay mark; 1960s-70s
Condition: excellent vintage with slick presence, great patina and no damage or repairs noted
