Los Ballesteros Mexican silver jasper wide Bracelet
Hinged bangle bracelets whether gem- or hard stone-studded, wrought in shadow-box or simply crafted in bold, massive silver are among my favorite designs by the Los Ballesteros workshop. The modernist, generously wide version at hand with its impressed “nested ellipses” and its bezel-set green jaspers is a first one for me. And I am duly excited about it - its sheer magnitufe, its warmly glowing patina, the earthy, rich hues in the stone all come together in the best possible way around a happy happy wrist. Don’t pass this bracelet by…
Size / Weight: just a hair less than 7” inner circumference (clasped) by 1 3/4” wide (at its widest); 131.5 grams
Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with workshop’s logo as shown as well as “HECHO EN MEXICO”, “STERLING 925” and bearing Eagle 47 assay mark; 1960s-70s
Condition: excellent vintage with substantial weight and powerful presence, gorgeous stones with rich hues (one of them more blue than green but original to the bracelet), with wonderful patina and no damage or repairs noted
