Italian Renaissance Revival silver sodalite Chain Necklace

$0.00
SOLD

Four figural links featuring classic Italian monuments and city symbols adorn this long, Renaissance Revival silver chain. This is the style associated with the Peruzzi and Coppini Bros workshops of Florence and based on the quality of the castings, I would suggest that it was made by either one of them. The figural links are complemented by floral ones while perfect sodalite beads add their strong color to the necklace. Long enough to be doubled-up as a choker, it can easily be enjoyed at its full length, alone or with your favorite pendant as part of your neck mess…

Size / Weight: 42 1/2” long; 3/4” wide (the width of the two widest figural links); 53.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: “STERLING” on the spring ring yet I believe this to be a replacement or later addition (these long chain necklaces often come as one piece, with no clasps); tested and guaranteed to be solid silver of at least .800 purity (which was the standard in Italy before 1934); 1910s-30s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful figural links, great patina, strong color in the sodalite beads, with no damage and no repairs noted
