Italian Deco silver and sodalite Pendant Necklace
Classic in its elegance and the delicate filigree work that embellishes it, this vintage silver and sodalite pendant necklace dates in the first decades of the 20th c. and I believe it is an Italian piece. Very similar to work that came out of the Peruzzi and Coppini workshops of Florence, the necklace is anonymous yet exhibits very high levels of craftsmanship and its finishing is impeccable. I love the stations formed by short lengths of chain, the lace-like quality of the filigree beads and the deep, rich, saturated color of the stone. And even though the pendant's bail is presently soldered closed, a jeweler could open it up easily giving you the option to pair that fabulous chain with a different pendant...
Size / Weight: 24 1/2" long (for the chain; please note that the chain is one continuous piece but it is long enough to comfortably slide on over your head); pendant is 2 1/8" long (without the bail) by 1 5/8" wide and with the bail it adds a 3" drop to the chain; 41.8 grams
Hallmarks / Date: not signed for maker nor hallmarked for metal quality yet tested and guaranteed to be solid silver of at least .800 purity, which was the Italian standard of the period; 1900-1930s
Condition: excellent vintage, classically elegant with that Old World allure, beautifully made and having gorgeous patina, with rich color in the stones and no damage or repairs noted
