Hroar Prydz Norway silver and enamel butterfly Brooches
The second set of vintage Hroar Prydz sterling vermeil and enamel butterfly brooches I am presenting, this pair is light and airy in glistening pearlescent white with sage green and yellow accents. I was aware of Prydz's reputation as that of the most talented, detail-oriented among the Norwegian enamelists but looking closely at these little creatures made me once again "see" how true that attribute is. I love the life-like representation of the delicate wings - I am almost compelled to avoid touching them for fear of harming the butterflies...
Size / Weight: 1 1/2" wide by 13/16" tall; 10.7 grams (for the set)
Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with Prydz's mark as shown as well as "STERLING 925S" and "NORWAY"; ca 1950
Condition: excellent vintage with flawless, vibrant enamel, gorgeous patina that has rendered the vermeil finish mellower, with no damage and no repairs noted
Inv# 14795/14796
