A graduate of the Parson's School of Design in Paris, Erika Hult de Corral is one of my favorite modernist designers and silversmiths in the context of Mexican silver jewelry. Spanning a few decades, her work is unfailingly of the highest quality with attention paid not only to materials but also to finishing and, of course, imaginative design. The ring presented here, wrought in sterling and centered by a scrumptious tiger's eye stone, can also be found with Enrique Ledesma's signature. Since de Corral worked for the renowned Taxco modernist before she set up her own workshop, I am wondering if this could be something she created during the time she spent in his taller...

Size / Weight: comfortable sz 6 US (resizable by your jeweler); face is 1 1/16" N-S by 7/8" E-W; 7/16" rise; 14.7 grams

Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with maker's "Ric" signature in script, "HECHO EN MEXICO", des. no 805 and Eagle 3 assay mark; 1960s-70s

Condition: excellent vintage with strong design, a gorgeous stone, great patina and no damage or repairs noted
