One of the few female designers of Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of, Erika Hult de Corral excelled in the creation of slick abstract and brutalist jewelry. She started creating her own work in Taxco’s “middle period” and continued being active in the post-1980 years as well. Size / Weight: pendant is 3” tall (without the bail) by 3 7/8” wide; with the bail it adds a 3 3/8” drop to the chain; chain is 24 1/4” long; 54.5 grams (for the duo; pendant alone is 31.4 grams
Hallmarks / Date: pendant signed “Ric” and “STERLING” as well as bearing Eagle 3 assay mark; chain is not marked for maker nor metal content yet tested and guaranteed to be sterling silver; 1960s-70s for the pendant; chain is contemporary
Condition: excellent vintage, with the pendant having impressive proportions, a richly colored stone, great design and patina; the chain is substantial and handmade, a great match for the pendant; no damage and no repairs yet please note that there is a small natural fissure in the cab - not easily detected with a naked eye, however, nor affecting the stone’s integriy
