Edwardian silver 12k vermeil Italian carved shell cameo Bracelet

SOLD

A most interesting variation on your classic early 20th c cameo bracelet, the piece presented here combines several "themes" that were popular at the time: one of the links features “Leda and the Swan” while there are also two depictions of the muse Erato playing the lyre and scenes of young maidens or nymphs frolicking in the woods. I love the delicate filigree connectors inspired by Etruscan silver-work and the mellowed 12k yellow gold plating. Classic and romantic and very nicely crafted...

Size / Weight: 7" long (wearable) by 5/8" wide; 15.2 grams

Hallmarks / Date: simply marked "12K" as shown; tested and guaranteed to be silver of at least .800 purity though it might as well be higher; the safety chain is "costume", just gold-plated metal

Condition: excellent vintage condition with very nice detail in the shell carvings, delicate silver-work and nice patina, with no damage (chips, cracks, breaks) in the cameos and no repairs though I suspect that the "o" rings connecting the bracelet's elements are possibly replacements
