Carmen Beckmann Mexican silver and snowflake obsidian Bracelet

SOLD

One of my favorite female designers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance (and admittedly, they aren't so many to begin with), Carmen Beckmann was a rather flexible maestra, able to create in many different styles. using a variety of materials. Her jewelry can be massive and jaw-dropping but quite as easily delicate and more sophisticated. The bracelet I am presenting here I call rare not so much for its design (which I have not seen before) but primarily for the scarcely seen snowflake obsidian that adorns its oval links. Smooth as silk around the wrist, with its touch of Etruscan Revival in the little florets that embellish the sterling connectors, this is a classy yet very "different" bracelet that defies the whims of fashion and time...

Size / Weight: 7" long (wearable) by 3/4" wide; 32.9 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's signature as shown as well as "MEXICO STERLING"; 1960s-70s

Condition: very good vintage, featuring a rare type of obsidian, with great patina and a pleasure to wear; no unsightly damage or repairs noted but I would like to mention two tiny little flakes off the cab in the link next to the tongue of the clasp that are barely even noticeable (you can see it in the last photo showing the hallmark)
