Antonio Pineda Mexican 970 silver Cufflinks ~ Aztec glyph
Inspired by an ancient Aztec or Maya eagle head glyph this set of Antonio Pineda cufflinks were crafted in the maestro’s favorite, .970 silver alloy. Overlay and oxidation are used here to convey the bird’s of prey features, fearsome by default yet a little bit on the cartoonish side as well, if I am allowed the comparison…
Size / Weight: approx. 3/4” square; 16.2 grams
Hallmarks / Date: fully signed with Antonio’s crown as shown, “970”, “HECHO EN MEXICO” and bearing Eagle 58 assay mark; 1950s-60s
Condition: very good vintage with the oxidation in excellent shape, exhibiting the high level of craftsmanship that Antonio jewelry is known and collected for, with no damage or repairs noted except for some expected superficial scratches
