antique silver orb Watch Fob ~ original chain and dog clip

$0.00
SOLD

An antique silver - most probably sterling - watch fob with original chain and dog clip, this sweet little find is, I believe, from the late Victorian / Edwardian period. There is nothing mundane about it either! I find the basket-weave ribbon that runs the fob's perimeter at the waist as well as the wire-work above it eye-catching . Both elements enhance the orb's sculpturality which is, of course, underscored by oxidation and patina. The chain is comprised by "infinity" links and the dog clip at its end works perfectly...

Size / Weight: overall length 5 1/2"; fob is approx. 7/8" in diameter; chain with dog clip only is 4 1/2" long; 11.4 grams

Hallmarks / Date: not signed for maker not hallmarked for metal quality yet tested and guaranteed to be silver, most probably of sterling purity; ca 1900

Condition: excellent vintage with fantastic patina, very tactile, with no damage and no repairs noted
