AEM AE Heart Mexican silver Bracelet ~ "lover's knot"

$165.00

One of the better known "less celebrated" maestros of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance, AEM (or, as I like to refer to him, AE Heart because of the heart-shaped M that hugs the signature's other two initials) lived and worked in Mexico City. Of good weight and exhibiting very good craftsmanship, AEM's jewelry often emulate pieces by his more famous contemporaries but he created many original designs himself as well. I am particularly attracted to his hinged bangle bracelets and I also love his use of abalone yet here, the bracelet I am presenting is all-silver and inspired by an ages-old motif. Cut out of thick gauge silver sheet the links are shaped as "lover's knots" with deeply hand-etched and oxidized details. Romantic in spirit though at the same time impressive in presence, comfortable around the wrist and easy to wear whatever the occasion - a bracelet that will stay with you for a long, long time...

Size / Weight: 6 1/2" long (wearable; perfect for medium to smaller size wrists) by just shy of 1 1/4" wide; 47.6 grams

Hallmarks / Date: maker's initials "AE" in a heart-shaped "M" as shown as well as "STERLING MEXICO" and Eagle 23 assay mark: 1950s-60s

Condition: excellent vintage with beautiful patina, impressive in proportions, with no damage and no repairs noted
