57" antique Edwardian silver Guard Chain

$550.00

Long antique guard chains have been very popular in the last couple of years and I am very happy to have come upon this stunning solid silver example. This is not your ordinary guard chain, as you can see. All its links are hand-cut and chased each featuring a beautiful forget-me-not flower and even the connectors are embellished with tiny little bead appliques. Exquisite and romantic, it can be comfortably worn doubled up, holding your favorite bauble as it comes with its original dog clip, or just in one strand, unfolding its slender beauty for the world to admire…

Size / Weight: 57” long (without the dog clip); dog clip adds a 7/8” drop to the chain; 27.1 grams

Hallmarks / Date: not signed for maker nor hallmarked for metal quality (which makes me think it might be a US-made piece) yet tested and guaranteed to be solid silver, of at least .800 purity but most probably sterling; ca 1900

Condition: excellent vintage condition with all its gorgeous links free of breaks, with luxurious length, its original dog clip, great patina and no damage or repairs noted
